Anupama  K P received her PhD from the department of Communication, Hyderabad Central University. Her work interpretively reads performance and embodied practices associated with an annual indigenous festival popularized as 'Koovagam transgender festival.' Prior to joining Hyderabad Central University she worked with Asianet News Channel and D C books. Currently she teaches at the department of Journalism and Mass Communication, University of Calicut as Assistant Professor. Her research interest includes cultural communication, film studies, rituals and performance, and gender & sexuality studies.
