Title of ThesisOnline political opinion expression and self-censorship among youth in Kerala

Synopsis: During 1990’s internet was rapidly leading a media revolution. However, the noteworthy thing is that individual behaviour matters a lot in online world. Individuals may have the chances to be encouraged or discouraged by the presence of others. (Kwon, 2014). Against this background, the researcher tries to analyse the online public opinion expression and self-censorship among youth in Kerala with the theoretical framework of Spiral of Silence.  Adhering to the theory, the study focuses on the effect of ‘Fear of Isolation’, ‘Expected sanctions’, ‘Opinion climate’ and ‘Reduced Privacy’ on online political opinion expression behaviour. Survey method is employed to collect data among Facebook users across Kerala aged 18-40.

Title of Thesis: Malayalam Localization in New Media Platforms; Trends and Strategies
Status: Completed
Synopsis:The study is an attempt to look in to the current scenario of Malayalam localization in various new media platforms. The study will also identify the recent trends in the localization marketplace and the various strategies employed by the content providers and developers. The objectives of the study were realized through multiple qualitative methods. The researcher conducted an explorative study using the secondary data to identify the presence of Malayalam language under different category of online platforms. To analyze the cultural customization, content analysis of selected samples are carried out. The researcher will also conduct focus group interview of localization specialists to understand the various strategies, prospects and problems in the field, particularly in Malayalam.
