Nuaiman Keeprath Andru holds a Ph.D. in Communication Studies from the University of Hyderabad. He has previously taught at the Malaysia campus of Curtin University of Technology, Australia and Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management, Nellore, Andhra Pradesh. He has also served as a research fellow at Anveshi Research Centre for Women's Studies, Hyderabad and Doha Centre for Media Freedom, Qatar. A former Erasmus Research Fellow at Freie University, Berlin and Visiting Fellow at Berlin Graduate School for Muslim Cultures and Societies, Germany (2016-17), Nuaiman’s research interests include history and ethnography of media, religion and media, and Islam in South Asia. He is currently preparing a book manuscript based on his Ph.D. thesis titled “Technologies and theologies: Islam and Media Infrastructure in Malabar, South India”. His current research projects look at life and career of technologies in India and, book cultures in Indian Ocean littoral. His scholarly articles have been published in various journals and edited volumes.
Nuaiman is a recipient of Centre for Studies of Developing Societies (CSDS- New Delhi) research fellowship (2013) and International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR) Award for Young Research Fellow (2014).
