EXPLORING SOCIAL MEDIA INFLUENCE ON THE POLITICAL SOCIALISATION OF COLLEGE STUDENTS IN KERALA

The process of socialization is no longer a passive transfer of information.  Because, the youth are more technologically savvy and the political socialization process is evolving.  With the increased availability of social media to youth at an earlier age, they have become active participants in the political development of the state.  The purpose of the study is to inter-relate the respondents' level of social media usage patterns, political knowledge acquisition, political attitude formation, and political engagement to summarize the degree of influence of social media as a socializing agent on the respondents.  Sample survey method will be adopted in this study and the data will be collected from the sampled groups of college students through a structured questionnaire.
